Vehicle Listing

Procedures

  • Vehicle Posting. All vehicles will be posted at the MSU Surplus Store in list format located by the register. Postings will include a brief description and sale price. The vehicle listing posted on this web site is not guaranteed to be complete due to time constraints.
  • New vehicles and pricing changes will be posted every Tuesday at 7:45 am.
  • Web page listing of vehicles will be updated following the morning rush of customers.
  • Vehicle Pricing. Initial vehicle pricing is based on NADA trade-in and loan values. Prices are non-negotiable. Price reductions on unsold vehicles will be posted after an undisclosed period of time dependent on market value, condition and current vehicle inventory.
  • Holds. Vehicles may be placed on hold for 24 hours. Only one vehicle per customer may be placed on hold. Holds may not be placed on vehicles until they are posted.
  • Test Drives and Inspections. Vehicles may be test driven during regular business hours. Vehicles on hold may not be test driven until hold has expired. Test drives are limited to 15 minutes and must be accompanied by a representative from the MSU Surplus Store. A valid Michigan driver's license must also be presented.
  • Vehicle Condition. A disclaimer of warranty is provided in the General Terms and Conditions. For purposes of sale, vehicles are being sold by Michigan State University and originating department ownership will not be revealed. Mechanic inspections must occur at the MSU Surplus Store facility.
  • Vehicle Purchasing. Vehicles are sold on a first come, first served basis with respect to "holds" as described above.
  • In the event of mutual interest at the same time, vehicles will be sold through verbal auction. In-store purchases take precedence over online sales occurring at the same time.
  • Sale Cancellation. Any vehicle may be removed from the sale process if it is determined to be in the best interest of MSU.
